Meet Jim Postma
Jim Postma is a rocket scientist who made his career leading America into space working alongside the Apollo 13 project after many years as an officer in the United States Air Force. As a father of two and a grandfather of six, Jim once again steps up to the plate to lead.
Jim Postma was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Grace Lee and John Postma, Jr. His father was the son of Norwegian immigrants who worked a test engineer for Commonwealth Edison Company in Chicago. Postma grew up in (suburb) and became interested in science and automobiles at an early age.
At 16, he was selected to attend the University of Chicago in an accelerated program which would go directly to a Masters of Science. Under the persuasion of his parents, he opted to attend a different college. He graduated from Foreman High School with honors and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University in 1956.
In the 1960’s, Jim began working for Rocketdyne in Southern California, both designing and building ICBM's and the first moon rocket engines for the Apollo Series.
With an interest in the stock market in the 1970’s, Postma became a financial investment advisor and received his certification from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. During this time he studied other businesses and made business plans for a stock brokerage, airline, and a computer service company. Along with his partners started a deli called Stottlemyers as a franchise in Santa Ana after the Stottlemyers in Pasadena.
During the Barry Goldwater years (1963-65), Postma, opposing the idea of Marxist socialism, became politically active serving as a coordinator. Jim ran for the 28th District Washington State Assembly in 1984 to a favorable turnout though he did not win. During this time he began developing his concepts into answers for today’s issues.
In 2008, he ran for 9th Congressional District in Washington State and single-handedly garnered 35% of the vote against incumbent Democrat Adam Smith.
His philosophy, “One person speaking the truth is more powerful than guns or money” is an ongoing concept in the development of Postma’s campaign.
Jim wants to go to Washington to repeal laws that make government intrusive into your life. Lets get the federal government out of your pocket and open the door for your future success.
